Okay, to be honest I am not a trained writer for critique on art and in english. But "La derniere marche" really touches my heart and soul.

This is the point why this deviation stands out so shining. It shows a situation of many peoples childhood. At least I was remembered of mine. Dispite it's not sure why the kid sits there, it probably reminds everyone of waiting, doubtfulness, hope in a way, loneliness and of course the inevitable love to our parents, though they left us alone sometimes.

The angle of view is just a perfect choice, 'cause the stairs also lead into uncertainty and in the dark. That the boy wears no T-Shirt awakens the feeling of emotional nudity and the coldness of being left alone. Maybe it even scares some of the watchers, because it went pretty deep into the subcontious mind.

Also the black and white setup is a great way to show the drabness of such a situation and the memories. Color isn't even 'allowed' here. These just would make a joke out of the happend things.
Let's be honest - are your bad memories colored?

"La derniere marche" is a great trip down repressed memories lane.
